LCD offer less power consumption, wider viewing angle, and longer screen life whereas plasmas offer a better color quality and faster refresh rate.

This is a wide range as there are so many different HDTV's to choose from with many different features. The range is from $200 to $3,000 according to brand name, size, and features.
Do I need a HDTV?
Well, if you want to see the best quality pictures, then the answer is yes. You also have to remember that everything is going digital and your old analog set even with a converter box will never allow you to view in high definition.
Will I need other accessories in order to watch high definition?
If you truly want to watch high definition, you will need to have a service such as cable or satellite that broadcasts in high definition.
